In my previous article, I shared five reasons you may find it hard to land your first tech job. If you haven’t read it yet, I’d encourage you to start with that before reading this article.

This article will outline two potential reasons why tech companies might be rejecting you.

Let’s get started

You have not done proper research on the company

Going to an interview unprepared or with little to no knowledge of the organization may create the impression that you are not really interested in working there. When you have a strong interest in a subject, think about how much time you’re willing to devote to learning more about it.

Additionally, this holds true for job interviews. When you prepare for an interview, it demonstrates to the interviewer that you are very interested. Additionally, it conveys your enthusiasm or excitement about the prospect of working for the organization, which makes a good impression on the interviewer.

You’re not utilizing your network

Experts concur that those with the greatest connections are frequently the most successful. Putting money into your relationships, both personal and professional can pay off in the long run for your career.

It should go without saying that networking is crucial during the job search process. With the appropriate employee referral, your chances of getting the job increase tenfold. Additionally, if you’re looking to shift careers, your professional network can support you by connecting you with people in the field you want to enter or by providing you with leads for jobs at particular businesses.

Spend some time developing deep connections with the people in your professional network so that when the time comes to look for work, you can count on those invaluable contacts for recommendations, insider knowledge of job openings, and other helpful information.

In my book, I have shared detailed information about how to network and land high-paying jobs through referrals.
